2 � stars. Foolish actions by a teenager cause problems for herself. It didn't work for me.

I want unique watchable characters or I want unique watchable activities/actions. I did not get either of these. The main characters were good but ordinary and normal. Blythe, a high school junior, does impulsive foolish things which cause problems and she cries. An unlucky thing happens to her, she gets revenge, and that creates worse things for her. She does something bad to a friend who hurts back with something awful. These foolish actions and reactions were most of the plot. I was shaking my head each time. Another chunk of time is spent watching Blythe solve clues and find items in the scavenger hunt. That was more interesting.

The best parts of the book were the secondary characters. I loved reading about Cy and Jenna, goth-looking outsiders who befriended Blythe. And I loved the parts with Franny and Eulalie, ladies in a retirement home who helped Blythe with a couple items in the scavenger hunt.

I enjoyed this author's previous book "A Match Made in High School." That was 5 stars for me.

Despite the slightly ranty beginning to the review there were definitely some enjoyable moments.

7 Clues To Winning You was a really cute book but I found myself volleying back and forth between "awww" and "ugh" for almost the entirety of the story.

The main problem for me was probably Blythe. In the beginning (and then sporadically throughout) she was selfish and snobby and thought she was above everyone else. It drove me absolutely insane how she pretty much thought the whole world revolved around her. She does end up growing beyond that, but something about her self-hating, self(and everyone else around)-destructive mindset in the process of the growth really rubbed me the wrong way. Plus, the way she needed to be smacked over the head with a sign for everything drove me batty. I figured out half the stuff, especially scavenger hunt clues, before she'd manage to come around to the conclusion herself.
Oh, and that "humiliating" picture is of her picking her nose and she acts like it's the end of the entire world. I mean, really?
Whew. Until I wrote it all down I didn't realize I disliked her character that much :P But, I've said many times before that characters don't really make or break a story for me.

The plot, however, does, and 7 Clues To Winning You sadly wasn't my favorite :[ I'd really been hoping to like this one so it truly does make me all sadface. It just seemed a little like there was too much going on. Let's go through the main and side stories:
1) The family is selling the house. This side story goes really in-depth into the process of selling a house. I found it kind of interesting since I love to just sit and watch House Hunters on HGTV for hours, but it didn't seem to contribute a lot to the story, especially since it's told from Blythe's point of view (as opposed to third person or whatnot) and the house selling process doesn't really concern her.
2) The mother dealing with some feelings. I can kind of see where this could mean something to why Blythe is the way she is, but it still doesn't seem incredibly pertinent. This is Blythe's story, not her mother's.
3) The scavenger hunt. Nothing to complain about here except for the fact that I wish there'd been a little more focus on it.
4) Luke & Blythe. Nothing to complain about here either.
5) Blythe drifting from old friends. This would certainly be an important and defining moment in Blythe's life, but the way it was added into the story felt more like an easy way to move the plot along to me.
6) Blythe's relationship with a pair of old ladies at the nursing home. This side story I completely and utterly approve of but I'll get to that later.
7) Blythe's relationship with her dad. I actually found this plot point pretty interesting even if it did get a tad tedious at times (partly because it's easier to see the adult point of view when you're older :P)
There's probably more that I'm forgetting but basically what I'm saying here is that the storyline felt really cluttered sometimes.

Okay, those old ladies I mentioned? They are a RIOT! I freaking loved them to pieces. For once, a side story relationship trumps all the main plot points for me. I mean, these ladies scheme pop can heists and buy porno mags with Blythe. Seriously, that scene with the nudie magazine at the gas station is one of the best things ever. I was reading in bed at about 3 in the morning laughing so much I woke Husband up :P

The Nuthsell: Whewie did that review get long? Chances are you looked at how long it was and just skipped right down here to get to the main point and I don't blame you! To sum it up, if you just want a contemp read that'll provide you with a few laughs then 7 Clues To Winning You is definitely for you, but be prepared for large amounts of side plots.

7 Clues to Winning You by Kristin Walker is THE PERFECT fun and cute pick-me-up book.

I was having a such a terrible day and I picked up 7 Clues to Winning You and I was giggling with minutes. The storyline is hilarious, and surprisingly moving at some points (I might have welled up once or twice) and the romance is so freaking adorable.

What I loved most about Blythe, the protagonist in 7 Clues to Winning You, is - yes, she's a rich girl at a rich school. But she's not the stereotypical rich girl who has to slum it kind of character - she volunteers at nursing homes and drives an old car and she's not bothered that she's "slumming it" or whatever. She's real and she has legit reasons for not liking her new school and she's ballsy and she cries a lot, but I felt for her every time, you know?

And LUKE. I loved Luke so freaking much. He was dorky and charming and so giving and there was this one scene with him where I just totally melted. Well, more than one, really.

Let me just say - go pick up 7 Clues to Winning You by Kristin Walker as soon it hits the shelves later this month. 7 Clues to Winning You is certain to brighten your day and have you giggling within pages. About the Author

Miguel A. Jim�nez-Crespo is director of the MA and BA program in Translation and Interpreting at Rutgers University, USA,�and holds a PhD in Translation and Interpreting Studies from the University of Granada, Spain.

He has published extensively on localization, corpus-based translation studies, the methodology and theorizations required for research into localization and its training. His articles have been published in international journals such as Target, Meta, Perspectives, Jostrans, Linguistica Antverpiensia, TIS: Translation and Interpreting Studies and the Journal of Internationalization and Localization among others. He is part of the review board of the Journal of Internationalization and Localization and Entreculturas.

Good source of information

It's been a good idea to compile everything that has been done so far it terms of localization. Research and publications continue developing on the industry rather than on education, and I notice that the emphasis goes to web localization. I think there is plenty of things to develop regarding teaching or training of students. However, it’s a good source of information.

In September 1996, musician and actor Tupac Shakur was gunned down on a Las Vegas street. His murder has never been solved. Although he released his first album only in 1991, by the time of his death Shakur was at the top of his field, a smash-hit recording artist who had also received acclaim for acting in such movies as Juice and Poetic Justice. He had also seen his share of controversy: an armed robbery in which he was shot several times; the murder of a former friend (in which some observers tried to implicate Shakur); a conviction and prison sentence for sexual assault. The authors acknowledge Shakur’s deeply troubled childhood—his mother, a former Black Panther, was tried (and acquitted) for conspiracy to commit murder; his stepfather was on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list—but they also celebrate the rapper’s intelligence and his gifts as an artist who wrote about love and respect, not hate and violence. I've read a lot of books about Tupac and 1990s rap music. This era is what defined the boundaries of rap music and if you listen to what rappers were rapping back then, you realize whats being said today was already said, and that all the rappers of today are profiting off of what Bigge and Pac made possible. As you can tell I take the life and times of Tupac Shakur very seriously and because of that this book offends my soul.

If you are looking for a very general and easy to read adventure through Pac's life then look no further, the authors write very short chapters, the shootings that Pac endures take up no more than ten pages, which is ridiculous to me (Although that could be because I read a book called "LAbyrinth" that is entirely dedicated to researching just those two incidents). The authors have a PHD and will often interject long and and unnecessary backgrounds of people and places to give the impression that they are putting Tupac in context but judging from the way they talk about the music it is clear they have no idea what they are dealing with. For the most part they get a lot of stuff right, but they leave out IMMENSE amounts of information. For example, the movie Gang Related and Bullet were completely ignored (possibly because they were released after his death, i'm not sure). They also referred to Mickey Rourke as being a part of the movie Juice, and that's just wrong and bad research. It implies that they haven't seen Juice, which was Tupac's most famous performance!

It's not a bad book, you will enjoy a lot of it if you like Tupac but if you are VERY interested in getting as much new information about Tupac as you can, this book offers nothing new. It takes its best parts from other books already written. The best book it uses is called "Got Your Back" and its written by Pac's close friend and personal bodyguard at Death Row. It is worth a whole lot more than this book because it gives you a clear sense of the man and not just a run-though of all the publicized events that defined him.

Couldn't put it down..

Let me start off by saying that I'm a HUGE Tupac fan, throughout the good bad and the ugly. I've studied his work, and other books based on his life. None of them touch this one. Even as a fan that's read up on the man, this book gives you so much more. I read it within 3 days and at it's end i wanted more. There so much background and detail to paint the imperfect image of Tupac Shakur that you feel like you're meeting him for the first time. What I loved most is that the book isn't glorifying Tupac as some kind of saint, but more touching on his successes and failures as a man and an artist.

If you're a fan or just interested in why he impacted both Hip-Hop and American as a whole, it's a must read.

I learned more about Tupac and more understanding of his life couldn't put the book down one of my favorite books ever so i think anyone should get this book if your a real fan of Tupac RIP Tupac Thug Life Forever.
